Welcome to the official website of Simbotics - Team 1114, a high school robotics team from Governor Simcoe Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario. The team helps students in the area pursue their interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) by partnering with volunteer mentors; who may be in college or university, or have already entered the workplace.

Initially, Simbotics was solely participating in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition, but has since started to participate in the VEX Robotics Competition. These competitions may not be what you would expect. They are not the “typical” robot game where robots compete to destroy each other; these competitions develop challenges where teams design robots to do tasks, trying to outperform other teams.

Every year teams are assigned a new challenge, almost like a sport the robots will compete in. In FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition), the team is given six weeks to design and build a robot for that year’s challenge, but for VEX you are allowed to continue building throughout the season, before and after competitions.
