2013 Greater Toronto East Regional

Simbotics, Team 1114 entered the 2013 season after an amazing 2012 season where we were recognized with a spot in the FIRST Hall of Fame as Championship’s Chairman’s Award Winners and trip to Einstein with our friends from 2056 OP Robotics and 4334 Alberta Tech Alliance, The “Eh” team.

Simbotics at the Killam Prize Symposium

On Tuesday, November 20, 2012 representatives of Team 1114 – Simbotics, and FIRST Robotics Canada attended the 1st Annual Killam Prize Symposium at Rideau Hall hosted by the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.

Lead mentor Karthik Kanagasabapathy, Allaire medal winners Taylor Nicholson and Brittany Shaw, and John Hobbins of FIRST Robotics Canada were invited to attend the 1st Annual Killam Prize Symposium. The 2012 Chairman’s Award winner was Team 1114 "Simbotics" from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. After serious deliberation, the members of Team 1114 have chosen two equally deserving seniors, Brittany Shaw and Taylor Nicholson, to receive the Allaire Medal and share the scholarship (each will receive a $5,000 scholarship).

SimPhone now available in French & Spanish!

FIRST Hall of Fame Team 1114, Simbotics, is proud to announce that Version 1.3 of SimPhone was released today to the App Store available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This new update brings a complete Spanish and French translation to the award winning app, downloaded over 2000 times in 67 countries. The strategy section has also been updated to include 2012 information in addition to a 2 hour video seminar.

FIRST Hall of Fame Team 1114, Simbotics, would like to thank FIRST for thoroughly investigating, addressing, and documenting the robot failures that took place on the Einstein Field at the 2012 FIRST World Championship. We would especially like to thank Frank Merrick and his staff for constantly communicating with us throughout the process.

We are shocked, dismayed, and troubled that an individual on a FIRST team would actually perform an intentional, malicious, wireless attack on our alliance. We are concerned that neither the individual nor the team the individual is associated with have yet to come forward and publicly apologize for this horrendous incident.
